1. Dutch police are investigating a shooting incident in Dordrecht, about 24 kilometers (15 miles) southeast of the port city of Rotterdam, on September 9.
In the first tweet, the Rotterdam police spoke of "multiple victims."
They later tweeted that three people had been killed and one seriously injured.
Dutch broadcaster NOS said the shooting occurred in the house.
Dordrecht Mayor Wuter Kolff tweeted:: "There was a very serious shooting incident in Dordrecht earlier this evening. I am very touched and very sympathetic to everyone involved in this..."
Police spokesman Wim Hunhout told the Associated Press that "this looks like a family incident."
There were no immediate details about the shooting.
2. The World Health Organization on Monday called on countries to do more to prevent suicide, even though the global suicide rate has dropped slightly.
"Despite the progress, one person still dies by suicide every 40 seconds," said WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus.
From 2010 to 2016, the suicide rate in the world decreased by almost 10% to 10.5 per one hundred thousand people. However, the number of deaths remained stable due to population growth.
In the Western Pacific, rates dropped by almost 20%, while in Guyana, the rate exceeded more than 30 per 100,000, making it the highest in the world.
Germany in focus
The average suicide rate in Germany was about 9 out of a hundred thousand people. Nevertheless, this figure is higher among men: 13.6 out of one hundred thousand people, compared with 4.8 among women in 2016.
Earlier this year, churches in Germany announced new initiatives aimed at raising awareness about suicide prevention.
The WHO stated that the gap between men and women is evident in almost all countries. According to WHO, it is also the second most important cause of death among young people aged fifteen to twenty-nine years.
According to experts, about 70% of suicides are associated with depression, during which struggling people may abandon social and personal relationships.
World Suicide Prevention Day (September 10) is a call for doctors, hospitals, support groups, and ordinary people to counter this trend and do more to help people before it's too late.
